Environmental Sensing Technologies

(Envir St 971, 3 credits)

Survey and explore newly developing technologies for monitoring the environment, including: hyperspectral data, imagery on demand, RADAR and LiDAR, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones), social media, smartphones as sources of crowd-sourced data, and more. Students gain direct experience in understanding and interacting with the data and methods (geocomputing, coding, cloud-based platforms), as well as learning to plan, manage, and utilize them effectively.
