LTE Private Water Hydrogeologist

Under direct supervision of the Private Water Supply Section Manager, the position will conduct hydrogeologic analysis and technical review of well compensation grant claims to determine eligibility and consistency with regulatory requirements, review payment claims and well construction reports for well compensation grants to evaluate compliance with code requirements and award conditions, and analyze and process applications for NR 812-required approvals following standard operating procedures for separation distance and landfill variances.

75 % A. Well Compensation Grants. Conduct hydrogeologic analysis and technical review of well compensation grant claims to determine eligibility and consistency with regulatory requirements. Conduct hydrogeologic analysis and technical review of grant claims to identify construction requirements for replacement of contaminated wells. Conduct technical review of well construction reports for projects that received well compensation grant funding, to evaluate compliance with code requirements and well compensation award conditions. Provide information and pre-application assistance to drillers and well owners regarding technical requirements for well compensation grants.

15 % NR 812 Approvals. In coordination with other program staff, conduct analysis and process applications for NR 812-required approvals following standard operating procedures and in compliance with applicable regulations, for separation distance and landfill variances. Conduct analysis and process applications for NR 812-required approvals of heat exchange projects, and anode drillholes. Follow up with drillers and pump installers as needed to obtain complete information. Manage and update data in program data systems according to standard operating procedures.

10% Report Reviews. Review incoming well construction and well filling and sealing reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with NR 812. Follow-up with drillers and pump installers as needed to obtain complete information. Manage and update data in program data systems according to standard operating procedures.
