The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (“Commission”), the nationally regarded regional planning agency for the seven county greater Milwaukee area, and the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the five urbanized areas within southeastern Wisconsin, is seeking applicants for a part-time Biologist / Natural Resources Technician.

The Commission is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our diverse team of planners, engineers and specialists focused on addressing issues that transcend the political boundaries and fiscal capabilities of individual communities. The successful individual will be part of an interdisciplinary team identifying, planning, and conducting natural areas management plan implementation/resource assessment activities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the Regional Natural Area Plan
  • Assist in the preparation of site-specific Forestry and Wetland Restoration plans
  • Assist with botanical surveys, environmental assessments, and preparing herbarium specimens
  • Potentially assist in wetland delineations or environmental corridor assessments

Core Requirements

  • In pursuit of or with a Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, environmental science, or natural resources
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software
  • Proficiency with statistical software and ESRI mapping and analytics (ArcGIS Pro) preferred.
