Project Manager, Sustainable Food Group

Are you interested in helping companies set and achieve their sustainability goals while working for a dynamic non-profit organization? We are seeking a full-time project manager to manage projects of IPM Institute’s Sustainable Food Group, a non-profit organization focused on helping companies in the food and agriculture sector create high-impact outcomes for the environment, people and their business.

The individual in this position will work with the project team, project partners, clients and other stakeholders to develop, implement, manage, maintain and evaluate initiatives that help advance sustainable agriculture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development, implementation and verification of corporate sustainability programs, strategies and goals.
  • Guide and conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analyses including data aggregation, analysis and interpretation.
  • Conduct verification program activities for food company clients to verify practice adoption and sustainability program outcomes and impacts.
  • Develop recommendations to advise food company clients on advancing adoption of sustainable agriculture and sustainability practices in supply chains.
  • Develop and contribute to report writing and presentation delivery.
  • Collect, aggregate and analyze farm-level data.
  • Maintain strong and consistent communication within our team and with external project partners.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Master’s degree or three to five years’ experience in a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Experience, knowledge and demonstrated interest in sustainable agriculture
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent data analysis and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including high level of comfort in Excel

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with agricultural production and conservation practices
  • Experience or familiarity with certification programs
  • Familiarity with greenhouse gas emissions accounting
  • Spanish language proficiency

Flexible schedule (set your own hours), 35 to 40 hours per week, starting salary $42,000 to $47,000 annually depending on skills and experience. Excellent opportunities for long-term advancement. Benefits include health, dental and optional life insurance, retirement plan, short and long-term disability, paid time off, paid sick leave and paid holidays. Located on the near east side of Madison. Prefer a candidate that can work from the Madison office, with potential to work up to two days per week remotely after 90 days.

Our Sustainable Food Group team works on more than a dozen projects to increase adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and other sustainability best practices that reduce risks to health and the environment from pesticide and nutrient use in agriculture and communities and improve working conditions, soil health, water and air quality.
