Course Description
The primary goal of this course is to expose students to a wide array of scientific disciplines that are involved in the management of land and water resources. Students will learn about potential career opportunities and gain insights on various agencies involved in natural resources management.
Initial lectures will focus on natural and anthropogenic factors that are major determinants of aquatic ecosystem health to provide background for subsequent discussions on the principles and practices of watershed and water resources management. We will engage with scientists and other natural resource management practitioners from various government agencies, private companies, and non-governmental organizations. Weekend field trips will provide hands-on experience assessing aquatic resources and landscape factors that affect the ecological integrity of our land and water resources.
