CPEP Seminar – Green Building, Green Behavior? Leveraging Sustainable Buildings to Promote Sustainable Behaviors
Speaker: Erin Hamilton, Assistant Professor of Design Studies, UW–Madison
Addressing global climate change requires interdisciplinary solutions. In the building sector, sustainability involves not only constructing green buildings but also encouraging eco-friendly behaviors in occupants. Green buildings on university campuses can serve as environmental education centers, fostering occupant awareness of sustainability. Previous research explored communication strategies like signage and feedback, while recent work highlights the importance of biophilic elements such as nature views and natural materials in promoting environmentally responsible behaviors (ERBs).
