Center for Ecology and the Environment Spring Symposium
The Wisconsin Ecology Spring Symposium is an opportunity for members of different ecologically driven disciplines to come together and share stories from the diverse projects occurring across campus.
The symposium serves as a celebration of the ground-breaking ecological research done by our graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. We hope that this will spark conversations between departments and lead to future interdisciplinary collaborations.
Dr. Elena Bennett, a research chair in Sustainability Science at McGill University in Quebec, is the keynote speaker.
Bennett is a University of Wisconsin-Madison and Nelson Institute alumna, having graduated in with a MS in land resources in 1999 and a PhD in limnology and marine sciences in 2002.
She is internationally regarded for her contributions to ecosystem services science. Dr. Bennett was inducted to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists in 2017 and was appointed Canada Research Chair in Sustainability Science in 2019. Among her significant contributions, she served as a lead author on the UN’s IPBES reports.
