Course Description
Enacting positive environmental change is possible at every level of government and society. While national and international efforts are important, local and regional efforts also hold great promise and can be much more accessible.
This course will explore how local government can be used to address pressing environmental issues, with an emphasis on climate change. Students will receive a foundational understanding of how local governments function and how they can be engaged.
This course will include guest lectures from various elected and appointed officials and community leaders who have direct experience in local, regional and statewide initiatives. The goal of this course is to inspire and empower students with practical knowledge and ideas to address environmental challenges through local initiatives.
