Course Description

Are environmental issues at their core moral challenges? This course delves into environmental ethics, bridging philosophy and environmental studies. We’ll explore classic Euro-American perspectives on “nature” while also engaging with global and Indigenous worldviews.

Topics include climate change, sustainability, conservation, and ecology, as well as contemporary ethical dilemmas like environmental disasters, AI, and geoengineering.

By the end of the course, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how ethics influences our approach to the environment and how the concept of the environment itself reshapes moral philosophy.
