The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) serves as the public, environmental and occupational health laboratory for the State of Wisconsin. This position independently provides a wide variety of program support for the Environmental Health Division at the WSLH’s Agriculture Drive location in Madison. This position functions as part of the internal and external customer support team, providing general and technical support to lab personnel, state and federal agencies and private citizens. Working conditions are in an office and laboratory setting.

Administrative Support

Serves as a point of contact for both internal and external customers. This may include responding to inquiries, taking orders for water testing kits, and interpreting EPA Safe Drinking Water Act and Wisconsin DNR rules and regulations for private and public drinking water. A wide range of other duties as needed including water test kit productions and assist in other areas of support within the Data Management Team.

Laboratory Support

Assist with lab support of departmental sample check-in throughout the day. Enter public and private drinking water sample data into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Keep detailed records and assess data to maintain highest quality of service. Query database for sample status and release data and reports to customers. Set up new clients and project profiles in the LIMS. Coordinate data flow through QA/QC processes.

  • May investigate complaints as directed – 10%
  • Keeps detailed records and assesses test data to maintain highest quality of service and performance – 25%
  • Prepares equipment and samples for laboratory tests – 15%
