Water Resources Management cohort assesses land use impacts and community engagement in the Waubesa Wetlands

July 15, 2020

Recently, the Nelson Institute’s 2017-18 Water Resources Management program (WRM) cohort published a report documenting the findings from a two-year project that proposed to assess land use impacts and promote community engagement of the Waubesa Wetlands Watershed. By working with various stakeholders, engaging with the local community, and conducting interdisciplinary research, the cohort produced a report that highlights current and potential future watershed conditions, as well as a list of management recommendations for the watershed. Established in 1956, the WRM graduate program is still considered one of the best in the world. For over six decades graduate students have participated in an approximate 18-month intensive interdisciplinary practicum that brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds and areas of specialization to work together as an interdisciplinary team to inform water resources policy.
