Nelson Institute professor Adrian Treves shares his research on BioScience Talks podcast

November 19, 2020

Nelson Institute professor and founder of the Carnivore Coexistence Lab, Adrian Treves recently discussed the delisting of gray wolves on the American Institute of Biological Sciences podcast, BioScience Talks.

The conversation was centered around the recent paper, Wolf Delisting Challenges Demonstrate Need for an Improved Framework for Conserving Intraspecific Variation under the Endangered Species Act, which was published in BioScience and co-authored by Treves. The paper challenges the recent interpretation of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), which states that protected species may be declared recovered if there is a single presently secure population. Instead, the paper asserts that genetic variation is important in enhancing a species’ potential to adapt and propose a framework for the conservation of adaptive potential. Learn more.
