SAGE analyzes the impacts of historical climate and of predicted future climate changes. To do this, we build and test computer models of the Earth's atmosphere, ecosystems, watersheds and their interactions with the climate system. Some of these investigations also use satellite remote sensing data. SAGE’s climate-impact research quantifies effects on energy use, air quality, water availability and quality, land use, agricultural production, ecosystems, the urban environment and public health. In turn, SAGE studies how land and water use at local to regional scales can influence the climate system. These activities support decision-making at the state, national, and international levels. Climate research at SAGE ties closely to theCenter for Climatic Research, the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, the Wisconsin Energy Institute, and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at UW-Madison.
