Student Case Study Projects

Students’ presented case studies relevant to their final projects. By researching these events, students learned valuable lessons about historical efforts to collaborate with Tribes on environmental issues and conservation. Students incorporated these lessons into their project planning and communications with community partners.

Culture & Conservation: Living Ho-Chunk History in Monona Parks

Looking forward for implementation of Ho-Chunk and student projects:

Woodland Park Signage: Monona Parks and Recreation Director Jake Anderson is working with his staff to incorporate student recommendations for signage in Woodland Park. As of February 2018, the signs are in production and not yet installed.

Cultural Resource Management: Ho-Chunk and student recommendations for cultural resource management will be considered for the 5 year improvement plan in Monona City Parks, based on City Council approval.

Cultural Curricula for Elementary School children: Monona Parks and Recreation Department will be incorporating the Mounds and Sovereignty curricula into Summer and After-School program in 2018.
