Collaborative Story Mapping: Bad River Ojibwe with Jessie Conaway
KIDS
Boozhoo Abinoojiiyag, Hello Kids!
Bad River Youth Outdoors (BRYO) is a cultural watershed education program that has run every summer since 2013 on the Bad River reservation. The BRYO kids have a lot of fun learning about mapping and culture: how to read a map, use a GPS, make storymaps and photomaps, all while hiking, canoeing and kayaking around the watershed!
The BRYO kids worked with Conaway to make a webmap about the Bad River Watershed http://bryomapsite.com/ Be sure to check out the Ojibwe language place names on the webmap!
When the Bad River Water&Culture Maps Project launched in June 2014, BRYO kids were there! Side by side with their elders and Jessie Conaway, the BRYO kids shared stories and concerns about the Bad River watershed, and helped with outreach and education to the public.
