Curriculum

The 15-credit environmental studies certificate program can be added to any undergraduate major and enhances the value of a bachelor’s degree. Students who complete both the certificate curriculum and an undergraduate degree program earn an environmental studies certificate with their degree. Completion of the certificate program is noted on their academic transcripts.

Requirements

  • Six credits of intermediate or advanced level course work; courses designated by an I/A/D in the timetable
  • A minimum of 8 credits must be taken in residence
  • A 2.00 GPA in the certificate
  • Courses taken on a pass/fail basis will not count toward the certificate
  • Spring 2020 and Spring 2021 grading policies apply

Foundation Courses (6 Credits)

  • Take one course from environmental humanities or environmental social science
  • Take one course from physical science or ecological science
  • Courses used in the foundation section cannot also be used in thematic area
