The Great Lakes Fisheries Specialist develops and recommends statewide and Great Lakes policy, plans and coordinates protection and management of Wisconsin’s Great Lakes sport and commercial fisheries and the aquatic environments that support them. The position functions as the chief technical consultant for the Great Lakes program and continually provides direction to other staff working in this area. The Great Lakes Specialist exercises substantial independent judgment under general direction and requires advanced knowledge in fisheries science, statistics and experimental design, resource management, and governmental policy development and implementation.
