The School of Pharmacy is recruiting for one 12-month, 50% project assistantship (PA) beginning as early as mid-July 2022. Start dates can be flexible based on student schedules and program needs. Per campus policy, this position will be paid at the specific UW graduate program rate in which they are enrolled in and offers health insurance eligibility and tuition remission.

The project assistant will assume the title editorial assistant at the UW Press journal History of Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals, and duties will include: working alongside the editors to plan, implement, and manage the publication schedule; communication with authors, copyeditors, and UW Press staff; light proofreading of manuscripts to identify any grammatical and spelling errors; administrative tasks, such as replying to emails, obtaining copyright forms, and setting up meetings; and some social media.

The project assistant will assume the title contributing editor at the Pointshistory.com website, and duties will include: working alongside the managing editor to plan, implement, and manage the publication schedule; with communication with authors; light proofreading of manuscripts to identify any grammatical and spelling errors; administrative tasks, such as replying to emails and setting up meetings; drafting interviews and short articles for publication; setting up meetings; and some social media.

Prior knowledge of or experience in publishing will be a plus. Training will be provided. Evidence of successful time management is essential.

This PA role is a useful opportunity to learn about the publishing sector and gain valuable experience.
