The Dane County Land and Water Resources Department (LWRD) is currently recruiting for limited term employment (LTE) positions. This recruitment will be used to fill multiple LTE County Parks Maintenance Crew I positions. LTEs are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and are not guaranteed any hours per week.

DEFINITION
Under the direct supervision of the Parks Operations Manager and general supervision from the full-time crew members, incumbents in this classification perform a variety of grounds and facility maintenance tasks at Dane County Parks.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties include grounds maintenance, such as mowing, string trimming, tree trimming, planting and mulching, trail maintenance and snow removal. Duties also include facility repair and maintenance such as cleaning, washing, painting and assisting with building repairs. Operate and maintain commercial type mowers, trimmers, light and heavy-duty vehicles. Provide information and assistance to the public when approached in the field. Work schedule may require evening and weekend hours April – October.

Education, Experience & Special Requirements
Education, Training and Experience:
Applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older. If you possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) please apply to the LTE County Parks Maintenance Crew II recruitment.

Special Requirements:
Completion of the Wisconsin ATV/OHM Safety Course preferred.

Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:
Ability to routinely lift up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted. Ability to do manual labor, including repetitive lifting, bending, reaching, kneeling and squatting. Ability to string trim for four (4) hours at a time. Work will be primarily outdoors in varying terrains in harsh temperature conditions.

Background Check Statement:
Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job’s responsibilities. Wisconsin’s Fair Employment Law, s. 111.31 – 111.395, Wis. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment and tools that includes light and heavy duty vehicles, large driving mowers and various hand and power tools, including chainsaws. Ability to communicate tactfully with the public. Ability to work independently from oral and written directions.
