Undergraduate Representatives
Each year Nelson Institute undergraduate students elect students from the undergraduate program to represent their interests and plan events. Elections for the following academic year are held each spring. If you are interested in being involved or, have questions please contact the 2012-2013 undergraduate representatives:

Laura Lee Berrey
I am a senior majoring in Environmental Studies and Biology Education. My dream job would be an environmental educator for a large environmental organization like a national park, but I want to start out teaching ecology and biology at a middle or high school. I am also a member in the Community Environmental Scholars Program and an officer in The Wildlife Society. This year I hope to help make Nelson Institute undergraduates into a community. I also want to get new undergraduates into the major and certificate program and inform everyone about the exciting opportunities this year. I hope to connect students to resources such as student organizations, internship possibilities, and networking connections.

Brady Loomis
My name is Brady Loomis and I am a junior from Glencoe, Illinois. I am majoring in Environmental Studies and hopefully Journalism with a Strategic Communication track. I enjoy everything that Madison has to offer, from the amazing farmers market to the incredible UW-Madison sports teams. GO BADGERS! I love to be outside as much as possible whether that's sailing, studying, playing volleyball, or just spending time with my friends. Along with simply spending time outside, learning about the environment has always been a passion of mine and that is how I knew the Environmental Studies program at the Nelson Institute was perfect for me. My favorite class so far has been Environmental Studies 339: People and Resources. Any questions about classes, the institute, or just campus life in general, feel free to email me.

I'm a junior pursuing an Environmental Science degree with a focus on Environmental Health and certificates in Environmental Studies and Global Health. I am very interested in how environmental factors affect human health, biotechnology, and sustainable energy. After my undergraduate career, I'm looking into a career in Public Health. I will also be completing a field study on 'Obesity and Health' in Vienna, Austria this summer and I look forward to learning more about how environmental factors may contribute to this epidemic. I also enjoy traveling to other places around the world and becoming more culturally aware. Otherwise, I am a competitive horse back rider and enjoy spending time with my horse in Minnesota. I am very excited about being a Nelson Institute Undergraduate Representative and I look forward to creating a stronger community, greater awareness for this program, as well as serving and connecting students with similar interests!

Olivia Sanderfoot
I am a sophomore in the Honors Program at the University of Wisconsin — Madison. I am very interested in limnology, the study of inland waters, and environmental sciences. I am a Biology and Spanish double major pursuing a certificate in Environmental Studies. I have been working for the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network, an international non-profit, since July 2011 and am honored to serve as an Undergraduate Representative for the Nelson Institute during the 2012-2013 academic year. I am really excited to work with such fabulous groups of people who devote their life's work to making a difference in the world. I absolutely love the UW campus and am proud to call myself a Badger. In my spare time, I enjoy playing piano and trumpet, going to the Farmers' Market, and playing ultimate frisbee.
