Biography: Dr. Williams’ research focuses on the responses of plant species and communities to climate change, with particular emphasis on studying vegetation dynamics during the last deglaciation as model system for understanding the likely impacts of 21st-century climate change. Awards and honors include the 2004 Cooper Award from the Ecological Society of America, the Phil Certain Distinguished Faculty Award from the University of Wisconsin, a Kavli Fellowship from the National Academy of Sciences, and an Aldo Leopold Leadership Fellowship.
