Biography: I’m from Waunakee, WI which is just north of Madison. In fact, I currently reside there. I graduated from UW-Madison with a B.S. degree in Wildlife Ecology in December 1996. After graduation I worked for a couple of years with a food service company, Neesvig Purveyors, first as a delivery driver and then as a shipping supervisor. In September 1998 I began my career in academia working with the Nelson Institute (known back then as the Institute for Environmental Studies, or simply IES). For three years I was the Receptionist in the Academic Programs Office in Room 70 of Science Hall. In 2001 I transitioned to working as the Graduate Coordinator assisting Barbara Borns with administering our graduate programs and certificates. Since July 2003 after Barbara’s retirement in the spring of that year I have been in this current position of Graduate Student Advisor. In this role I advise our master’s and doctoral students on Nelson Institute and UW-Madison Graduate School policies, procedures, deadlines and general timelines. I also meet with prospective applicants and steer them through the application process. In my spare time I like to be outdoors going fishing and playing Ultimate frisbee. I’m an avid sports fan, so I love to watch and talk sports, especially the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. This is a great way of life here in the Badger state, and I’m proud as can be that I get to work for the very same university I attended as a student in a field that’s related to my degree. On Wisconsin!
