Biography: Cathy Middlecamp's work lies at the intersection of science, people, and the real-world issues that we face on this planet. She is the editor-in-chief for Chemistry in Context, a project of the American Chemical Society (ACS), and has been recognized nationally by the ACS for encouraging women in careers relating the the chemical sciences, for incorporating sustainability into the chemistry curriculum. She is a fellow of the ACS, AAAS, and AWIS. She teaches courses on environmental chemistry and environmental justice, especially on topics relating to radioactivity. Middlecamp earned her undergraduate degree in 1972 is from Cornell University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and with distinction in all subjects. Her doctorate is in chemistry from the UW-Madison (1976). She holds a masters degree in Education from the UW. She also has practiced the martial art of aikido for 25 years and loves hiking and biking.
