Conference Location

The fifth annual Nelson Institute Earth Day Conference will will be held on April 20 at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery and the new Union South on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

The buildings are across the street from one another on Campus Drive between Randall Avenue and Orchard Street; see the map below. You can also view an interactive campus map here.

PARKING is available in Lot 20, which serves Genetics and the McArdle Laboratory and can be accessed from University Avenue, and in Lot 17, which is behind Engineering Hall and Camp Randall Stadium and can be accessed via North Randall Avenue. Day permits can be purchased from the parking attendant the day of the conference for $10, however please note that space is limited and may run out. If you would like to reserve a spot in one of these lots ahead of time, you can visit the UW Transportation Services website to use their online order form or call them at (608) 262-8683 to purchase a day pass for $12. Purchasing permits in advance must be completed by Wednesday, April 6.

The use of PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION is encouraged. The two buildings are also easily accessible from many Madison Metro Bus routes serving University Avenue and West Johnson Street. For a full list of routes, visit the Madison Metro website.

There are several RESTAURANTS in the area that conference participants can visit for lunch. The Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery has three public dining venues in the Town Center. Union South will have several restaurants open to the public. And The Library Cafe and Bar, QQ Express, and Cousin's Subs are just a short walk from the conference.
